Big Pond, Nova Scotia, is the home of popular Canadian singer-songwriter Rita MacNeil. In a writing, performing and recording career that spans several decades, Rita MacNeil established herself with her Gemini award-winning television variety show Rita & Friends, and with her widely-publicized appearances with the Men of the Deeps, a choir of Cape Breton coal miners.
